101 Cookbook Community
While the 101cookbooks.com is the home-base for 101 Cookbooks, there are many ways to use other sites and social networks to engage and participate with others in the 101 Cookbooks community. Here is a short list...
101 Cookbooks on Flickr
Flickr is a favorite site of mine - a photo management and sharing site that allows you to show off your photos to your network of friends and family online. I've set up a 101 Cookbooks group on Flickr, please feel free to join the group! Also, if you use Flickr and happen to cook something from this site, simply tag it 101cookbooks. It will show up on this page along with everyone else's 101 cooking adventures. People cooking from Super Natural Cooking are also on Flickr, tagging photos as supernaturalcooking.
101 Cookbooks on Kiva
I've set up 101 Cookbooks as a Kiva Lending Team. As the site has grown over the years, I kept thinking to myself that it would be great to figure out a way for us to affect change as a group - me + you. I've long been a fan of Kiva. For those of you who aren't familiar with Kiva, it's a grassroots project that allows someone like me to make (real-time) micro-loans directly to entrepreneurs in the developing world via the internet. We are talking about small loans, not donations, to people (who in many cases) wouldn't qualify for loans otherwise. As a team we are able to make an even greater contribution. To date the 101 Cookbooks lending team has made 478 loans, totaling nearly $15,000 (10/30/2008) working toward a goal of $100,000. You can read more about our Kiva venture here and here.
101 Cookbooks on Facebook
For those of you on Facebook, I set up a 101 Cookbooks page there. If you add yourself as a fan, you'll be able to keep track of events and/or announcements through that channel too. I'll be adding some other functionality to that page in the coming weeks/months.
