One of the iconic elements of summer, berries are a crowd-pleasing favorite. And, and although it's hard to top a perfect, ripe berry, they are wonderful ingredients to cook with. Here are a number of favorite berry recipes in one list - they're particularly ideal in crisps, cobblers, and fruit salads. When purchasing berries, sample first if you can, and evaluate how they taste. The flavor of berries can change in sweetness dramatically from week to week. Make sure there is no mold, or soft spots. And be excessively gentle when transporting. Berries freeze well, so buy them in season, freeze on a cookie sheet, and transfer to a double bag until ready to use.
